Manor of Lars Sonk

The guest house “Art Residence of Lars Sonk Manor has been an active architectural monument of national significance since 2000. The house was built in 1914 according to the project of the famous Finnish architect Lars Sonk. The house has all the necessary amenities for life: heating (stove and electric), running water, toilet, shower, kitchen, kitchen utensils, kettle, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and coffee machines. They live in the house all year round.

The house rises above the village of Kurkijoki and stands on Andersen Hill, unique old-growth trees (larch (about 180 years), balsam fir (about 120 years), Siberian cedar (about 120 years) grow around the manor. The territory is a three-level plot of about 1 Ha, in front of the site, the Rahalanijoki glacier river (“money river” in Finnish) flows. Opposite is Mount Linnavuori (fortress mountain in Finnish), on which in ancient times the fortress of ancient Karelians was located.  The address: st. Sovhoznaya, 1, Kurkijoki, Rep.
