The chapel of Elijah the Prophet

The chapel of Elijah the Prophet is an 18th – 19th century wooden construction, which is located in the village of Pyalma. The chapel of Elijah the Prophet has features of Karelian constructions of that time. This is a small log-house with a dome and a bell-tower. In the past the chapel contained icons from the 15th-17th centuries, which are now part of the unique collection of Old Russian art of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia. A total of 6 copies were restored. Nowadays, they adorn the iconostasis of the chapel. Around the chapel there is a cemetery, which is surrounded by a fence with a carved gate.
